I confide to you the troubles that have kept me awake,

their calamities set to keep watch over my eye.

As though the night, when it grew dark, were a crow,

and over that crow there were no crow of parting.

And now you judge in lands

where the judge is bound to repay a debt.

So ask about it: you will find it a precedent in my favor,

    confirmed, supported by two witnesses.

    تأوَّل فيَّ إحدَى السُنَّتَينِ

    And another I have from your father's kindness;

interpret one of the two precedents in my case.

So the distance is not great for one whom

Abu al-Husayn's kindness has summoned to al-Husayn.

Nor is a person spoken of fondly until

the soul willingly parts with what is in both hands.
