أبايَعتَHave you wagered with أهلَthe people of البيعَةِthe church اليومَtoday فيover دَميmy blood
أبايَعتَ أهلَ البيعَةِ اليومَ في دَمي
غَلبتَyou have won فَخُذso take أَخطارَهُمtheir stakes وتَقَدَّمِand step forward
غَلبتَ فَخُذ أَخطارَهُم وتَقَدَّمِ
Have you wagered with the people of the church today over my blood?
I pledged allegiance to the people of allegiance today with my blood
You have won, so take their stakes and step forward.
You have prevailed, so take their dangers upon yourself and move forward
ولاand do not تُورِثَنcause to inherit عَينَيكَyour two eyes سُقميmy sickness فإِنَّهُfor indeed it is
ولا تُورِثَن عَينَيكَ سُقمي فإِنَّهُ
حَرامٌforbidden عَلىfor الذِّميِّthe dhimmi (protected non-Muslim) مِيراثُinheritance from مُسلِمِa Muslim
حَرامٌ عَلى الذِّميِّ مِيراثُ مُسلِمِ
And never let your eyes inherit my sickness, for
Do not bequeath your eyes my illness, for
a dhimmi is forbidden to inherit from a Muslim.
It is forbidden for the dhimmi to inherit from a Muslim
