يا ابنَ إِبراهيمَ نادِرةً
بِتُّI spent the night أَستَلقيfalling onto my back لَهاat it ضَحِكاlaughing
بِتُّ أَستَلقي لَها ضَحِكا
O son of Ibrahim, what a jest!
Oh son of Abraham, a rarity
I spent the night falling back with laughter at it.
I laugh for her as I lie down
رأسكَyour head المَقصودthe target قاصدهits assailant
رأسكَ المَقصود قاصده
فيin هِجاءِlampooning الدَّهرِTime فاشتَركاso the two joined in
في هِجاءِ الدَّهرِ فاشتَركا
Your head, the target, and its assailant—
Your intended head reaches its destination
