لاdo not تَحسِبُواthink (you, plural) صَيداءَSidon حينَwhen تَغيَّرَتshe changed
لا تَحسِبُوا صَيداءَ حينَ تَغيَّرَت
وَنُهِيتُand I was forbidden غَيَّرنيchanged me عَليهاtoward her النَّاهِيthe one who forbade
وَنُهِيتُ غَيَّرني عَليها النَّاهِي
Do not think, when Sidon changed,
Do not think I've changed when circumstances altered
and I was forbidden, that the one who forbade me changed my feelings toward her.
And I was forbidden, it was my love that changed me
خَلَصَbecame pure الهَوىlove لمَّاwhen انقضَتceased أسبابُهُits causes
خَلَصَ الهَوى لمَّا انقضَت أسبابُهُ
فِيهاin her فصِرتُso I came to أحبُّهاlove her فيfor the sake of اللَّهِGod
فِيها فصِرتُ أحبُّها في اللَّهِ
Love became pure when its causes ceased
Love was purified when its causes vanished
in her; so I came to love her for God's sake.
So I came to love her for the sake of God
