I have an eye, forever fixed on what grieves me

and delights it—a keen watcher for all time.

Love went mad; with it, amid the eye’s tears, ran

a current, flowing through all time, a copious torrent.

And when I spoke openly, I told my reproacher: “Wait—

tears run dry, and secrets are kept.”
