ماnot انقِطاعيmy staying away عنكَfrom you منout of مَلَلِweariness
ما انقِطاعي عنكَ من مَلَلِ
حبُّكُمlove for you (plural) قَدindeed زادَhas increased فيin شُغُليmy preoccupation
حبُّكُم قَد زادَ في شُغُلي
My staying away from you is not out of weariness.
My absence from you was not out of boredom,
Love for you has indeed increased my preoccupation.
your love has increased my occupation
واستباقُand the racing الدَّمعthe tears يَشهدُbears witness ليfor me
واستباقُ الدَّمع يَشهدُ لي
أنَّنيthat I مُذsince غِبتyou went away ذوpossessed of وَجَلِdread
أنَّني مُذ غِبت ذو وَجَلِ
And the racing of tears bears witness for me
and the outpour of tears testifies
That since you left, I have been full of dread.
that ever since I left, I've been anxious
آهِah! مِنbecause of شَوقيmy longing إِليكَfor you فَماfor no
آهِ مِن شَوقي إِليكَ فَما
ليfor me بكَin your place الأَيامَthroughout the days مِنany بَدَلِsubstitute
لي بكَ الأَيامَ مِن بَدَلِ
Ah, my longing for you! For never
Oh! How I yearn for you
Have I a substitute for you, through all my days.
Nothing can replace you
إِنif تَرانيyou see me حِدتُI have turned aside عَنكَfrom you فَقَدthen indeed
إِن تَراني حِدتُ عَنكَ فَقَد
حِدتُI have turned aside عَنfrom قَوليmy avowal بِحبِّof love for عَليAli
حِدتُ عَن قَولي بِحبِّ عَلي
If you see that I have turned from you, then indeed
If I refrain speaking of you
I have turned from my avowal of love for Ali.
