أنستُI found comfort بِوَحدَتيin my solitude حتَّىso much that لَوif أنِّيthat I
أنستُ بِوَحدَتي حتَّى لَو أنِّي

رأيتُ الأنسَ لاستوحَشتُ مِنهُ
I have grown so at ease with solitude that, were I
I have grown so at ease in my solitude that, were I
to encounter companionship, I would recoil from it as something strange.
to encounter companionship, I would feel estranged from it.
ولمand did not تَدعleave التَّجاربُexperiences ليfor me صَديقاًa friend
ولم تَدع التَّجاربُ لي صَديقاً
أميلُI incline إِلَيهِtoward him إلاexcept that مِلتُI turned عَنهُaway from him
أميلُ إِلَيهِ إلا مِلتُ عَنهُ
Experience has left me not a single friend
And experience has left me no friend
toward whom I incline without then turning away.
I lean toward without turning away from him.
