ولَيلةٍand a night أضمَرتُI inwardly resolved مِنbecause of طُولِهاits length
ولَيلةٍ أضمَرتُ مِن طُولِها
إنif فَضلَتremained ليfor me مُدَّةٌa span of time عَنهاbeyond it
إن فَضلَت لي مُدَّةٌ عَنها
And one night—so long that I resolved,
And a night—its length made me inwardly resolve:
A night I endured from its length
if any span of life remained to me after it,
If any span of time remained to me beyond it,
If more time remains for me without it
ووُرِّخَتand it was dated فيin الكُتبِthe books منfrom شَهرِهاits month
ووُرِّخَت في الكُتبِ من شَهرِها
ورختُI dated وَجديmy longing شَهرَهاits month مِنهاfrom it
ورختُ وَجدي شَهرَها مِنها
and it was chronicled in books according to its month,
And it were dated in the books by its month,
And months were recorded in books from its month
to date the month of my longing from that night.
I would, in my longing, date its month from that night.
I endured my love for a month of it
