قبَّلتُهاI kissed her أشتَفيI seek healing بقُبلَتِهاthrough her kiss
قبَّلتُها أشتَفي بقُبلَتِها
فزادَنيso it increased for me ذلكَthat اللَّمىthe lips’ dusky hue ألَماpain
فزادَني ذلكَ اللَّمى ألَما
I kissed her, seeking healing in her kiss.
Yet that dusky hue of her lips increased my pain.
وساءَلتنيand she asked me عَنabout مُبتَداthe onset of سَقَميmy illness
وساءَلتني عَن مُبتَدا سَقَمي
مُسقِمُthe one who makes languid جَفنَيكِyour two eyelids مُسقِميthe one who makes me ill بهماthrough them both
مُسقِمُ جَفنَيكِ مُسقِمي بهما
And she asked me about the onset of my illness.
He who makes your eyelids languid makes me ill through them both.
