قطعتَ لَذاذاتِ العَطايا بمَطلِها

قطعتَ لَذاذاتِ العَطايا بمَطلِها

وما كلُّ قلبٍ للمِطالِ بصابرِ

وما كلُّ قلبٍ للمِطالِ بصابرِ

You have cut off the delights of gifts by delaying them.

You severed the sweetness of gifts with their delays

And not every heart is patient with delay.

Not every heart endures what it yearns for with patience

وهبتُ مِطالي للنَّبِيِّ فلا تكُن

وهبتُ مِطالي للنَّبِيِّ فلا تكُن

عليهِ مُثيباً لي فلستُ بشاكرِ

عليهِ مُثيباً لي فلستُ بشاكرِ

I have offered my waiting to the Prophet, so do not

I gave my longing to the Prophet, so do not

reward me for it, for I am not grateful.

Reward me, for I am not one who gives thanks
