وضعَhe lowered الميسَّرُal-Muyassar صَدرَهhis chest
وضعَ الميسَّرُ صَدرَه
فسَماso he rose إلىto وَضعlowering الصدورِthe chests
فسَما إلى وَضع الصدورِ
Al-Muyassar lowered his chest,
The facilitator offered his chest
and so rose to lowering chests.
So it rose to the level of chests
إنif كانَhe used to يضربُhe strikes بالمقاwith the scour- (continued)
إن كانَ يضربُ بالمقا
رِع-ges (completes 'scourges') فهوthen he يُضربُis struck بالأيورِwith the penises
رِع فهو يُضربُ بالأيورِ
If he used to strike with scour-
If he strikes with the sword
ges, he is struck with penises.
He is struck with spears
بذلَhe offered القِصاصَretribution مخافةًout of fear
بذلَ القِصاصَ مخافةً
منof ربِّهhis Lord يومَon the day of النشورِresurrection
من ربِّه يومَ النشورِ
He offered himself for retribution out of fear
He paid retribution fearing
of his Lord on the Day of Resurrection.

تِلكَthat السياسةُgovernance لاnot سِياgovern- (continued)
تِلكَ السياسةُ لا سِيا
سَةَ-ance (completes 'governance') كلِّevery مُختالٍconceited فَخورِboastful
سَةَ كلِّ مُختالٍ فَخورِ
That is governance, not the govern-
That is the policy, not the policy
ance of every conceited braggart.
