بكلِّ مَجدٍ مُحيطُ

بكلِّ مَجدٍ مُحيطُ

O you who have a house of glory,

O you whose house of glory

encompassing every glory!

Is surrounded by all glory

أساسُه الجودُ فانظُر

أساسُه الجودُ فانظُر

ما أصلُه التفريطُ

ما أصلُه التفريطُ

Its foundation is generosity—so look:

Its foundation is generosity, so look

neglect is not its root.

What is its origin, negligence?

فيه المُنى والمَنايا

فيه المُنى والمَنايا

كلٌّ بكلٍّ خلييطُ

كلٌّ بكلٍّ خلييطُ

Within it are hopes and deaths,

In it wishes and passing away

each mingled with the other.

Each intermixed with the other

وإنَّ جَوهرَ قَولي

وإنَّ جَوهرَ قَولي

من فِعلِه لَبَسيطُ

من فِعلِه لَبَسيطُ

And indeed, the essence of my words

And the essence of my words

is surely simple, drawn from his deeds.

From his actions is simple

ويَغضَبُ الدَّهرُ ممَّا

ويَغضَبُ الدَّهرُ ممَّا

أقولُه ويَشيطُ

أقولُه ويَشيطُ

And Time grows angry at what

And time gets angry with

I say, and burns with rage.

What I say and rages

وما عَلى مثلِ قَولي

وما عَلى مثلِ قَولي

رَدٌّ ولا تَغليطُ

رَدٌّ ولا تَغليطُ

And against words such as mine

And no rebuttal or denial

there is no rebuttal or charge of error.

Is upon the likes of my words

بدأتَ نَقداً ووَعدا

بدأتَ نَقداً ووَعدا

فاعتاقَه التَّثبيطُ

فاعتاقَه التَّثبيطُ

You began with cash and a promise,

You began with cash and a promise

then discouragement held it back.

But frustration obstructed it

وأسرعَ الجودُ سَبقاً

وأسرعَ الجودُ سَبقاً

فَليَلحقِ التَّقسيطُ

فَليَلحقِ التَّقسيطُ

And generosity hastened ahead;

And generosity raced ahead

so let payment in installments catch up.

So budgeting should catch up

سَقَى نداكَ نَدىً

سَقَى نداكَ نَدىً

طلُّهُ عَليكَ سَقيطُ

طلُّهُ عَليكَ سَقيطُ

May dew water your bounty,

Your generosity watered

its fine rain falling upon you.

Its dew pouring down on you
