لماwhen بَداappeared الشَّعرthe hair عَلىon خَدِّهhis cheek
لما بَدا الشَّعر عَلى خَدِّه
وكنتُand I was قدalready أفلَتُّI escaped بَعدafter الوقُوعfalling
وكنتُ قد أفلَتُّ بَعد الوقُوع
When hair appeared on his cheek,
When the down appeared on his cheek
and I had escaped after falling in love,
And I had fallen after the fall
نادَىcalled out عذاراهُhis two sideburns بيَto me ارجعreturn إلىto
نادَى عذاراهُ بيَ ارجع إلى
عَهدِthe bond of الهَوىlove هَذاthis أوانُthe time for الرُّجوعreturn
عَهدِ الهَوى هَذا أوانُ الرُّجوع
his two sideburns called to me: “Return to
His charm called me: “Return to
the bond of love—this is the time to return.”
The time of love, this is the time to return”
