سائِلask خَيالَكَyour phantom عمَّاabout what بتُّI spent the night ألقاهُI endure it
سائِل خَيالَكَ عمَّا بتُّ ألقاهُ
والوجدُand longing فيin غَيرother than قَلبيmy heart كانَwas مأواهُits abode
والوجدُ في غَير قَلبي كانَ مأواهُ
Ask your phantom about what I spent the night enduring.
Ask your imagination what I have imparted to it
And longing's abode was somewhere other than my heart.
And ecstasy has found no other home but my heart
ياO مُفردَpeerless in الحُسنِbeauty إنِّيindeed I مُفردٌsingled out أبَداًforever
يا مُفردَ الحُسنِ إنِّي مُفردٌ أبَداً
بالسُّقمby sickness فيكَfor you وباقيand the rest of النَّاسِthe people أشباهُalike
بالسُّقم فيكَ وباقي النَّاسِ أشباهُ
O you peerless in beauty, I am forever singled out
O you who are uniquely beautiful, I will forever be alone
By sickness for you, while all other people are alike.
Loving you while the rest are mere shadows
