May you live on, Abu al-Thana, as long as nights endure,
You have remained, O father of praise, throughout the nights
With both hands moist with bounty for the one who prays for you.
Upon the one who prays for you both hands clasped

Your bounty stands between calamities—
Your call turns away what afflictions lie between us
When your two hands rain it down—and me.
When your gifts rain down both on it and me

Through you, hopes make me a promise
Hope has made a promise to me through you
Whose fulfillment I have seen, without falsehood.
I saw it fulfilled without any effort on my part

بلبس عباءة وتقرّ عيني
You are generous to the one who loves you every year,
You bestow generously every year on your lover
With a cloak to wear, and you gladden my eye.
A new cloak and delight my eyes
