    May God grant you healing from it,

    and may the All-Preserving grant you enduring life.

    ويا بَدرَ الكمال ولا أُرائي

    O sea of bounty—and I do not exaggerate;

    O full moon of perfection—and I do not flatter.

    Your life in this world, Abu Jamil,

    is life itself for chivalrous virtue and generosity.

    In your presence, the days grow splendid,

    as gardens flourish in beauty,

    so that every quarter may shine with the radiance of your countenance,

    for darkness cannot remain in the presence of light.

    And I call upon God, beseeching Him

    with a prayer morning and evening:

    that He preserve you as a sheltering shade for Islam,

    protecting it from every peril difficult to repel.

    May lofty virtues never sicken on account of your illness,

    nor the children of hope ever lose you—

    فلا احتاج الدواءُ إلى الدواء

    you who are a cure for all that is lofty, healing every ill;

    may the cure never need a cure.
