للهto God (an exclamation of praise) والدةُthe mother of المليكthe king وماand what بَنَتْshe built
لله والدةُ المليك وما بَنَتْ
منof جامعٍa congregational mosque رَحبِspacious الفناءthe courtyard مُنَمْنَمِfinely adorned
من جامعٍ رَحبِ الفناء مُنَمْنَمِ
God be praised for the king's mother and what she built:
For Allah is the builder of the glorious shrine
a finely adorned congregational mosque with a spacious courtyard.
And not for those who frequented its spacious courtyard seeking fame
للراكعينfor those who bow الساجدينthose who prostrate لقدindeed زهاit shone
للراكعين الساجدين لقد زها
سمةa sign التقىpiety للناظرto the beholder المتوسّمthe discerning
سمة التقى للناظر المتوسّم
For those who bow and prostrate, it has indeed shone,
It was built for the humble bowing in prayer
a sign of piety to the discerning beholder.
Its elegant simplicity pleasing to behold
ترجوshe hopes منfrom اللهGod الكريمthe Generous مثوبةًa reward
ترجو من الله الكريم مثوبةً
أجْرُrecompense المثيبthe Rewarder علىfor الجميلa good deed المنعمthe Benefactor
أجْرُ المثيب على الجميل المنعم
She hopes for a reward from God the Generous—
Hoping for a generous reward from Allah
the Beneficent Rewarder's recompense for a good deed.
Whose generosity exceeds all earthly gifts
إذsince غَيَّرَتْهshe altered it وقدَّرَتْهand she planned it بحكمةٍwith wisdom
إذ غَيَّرَتْه وقدَّرَتْه بحكمةٍ
وكذاand thus يرادis desired منof البناءthe construction المحكمsoundly built
وكذا يراد من البناء المحكم
For she altered it and planned it with wisdom,
She changed and shaped it with wisdom
and this is what is desired of a soundly built structure.
As suits a firmly constructed house of worship
أخَذَتْshe undertook بتوسعةٍwith an expansion لهfor it وأعانهاand aided her
أخَذَتْ بتوسعةٍ له وأعانها
نظرُoversight الرَّديفthe deputy وخدمةand service المستخدمthe attendant
نظرُ الرَّديف وخدمة المستخدم
She undertook its expansion, and she was aided by
Taking pains to expand it, aided by
the deputy's oversight and the attendant's service.
Keen oversight and willing workers
فيهin it الإمامthe Imam أبوAbu (father of) حنيفةHanifa منwho لهhas, belonging to him
فيه الإمام أبو حنيفة من له
زهرblossoms المناقبvirtues مثلlike زهرblossoms الأنجمthe stars
زهر المناقب مثل زهر الأنجم
Within it is the Imam Abu Hanifa, whose
Wherein presides Imam Abu Hanifa whose
blossoms of virtue are like the blossoms of the stars.
Virtues shine like stars in the heavens
أخَذَتْlearned علومَthe sciences أصولهاtheir principles وفروعهاand their branches
أخَذَتْ علومَ أصولها وفروعها
عنهfrom him الأئمةُthe imams فيin الزمانthe age الأقدامearliest (apparently intended)
عنه الأئمةُ في الزمان الأقدام
The sciences—their principles and their branches—were learned
From him eminent imams through the ages
from him by the imams in the earliest age.
Derived foundations and branches of sacred law
قدindeed عمَّرتْهُshe restored it وشيَّدتْهُand she built it up وجَدَّدتْand she renewed
قد عمَّرتْهُ وشيَّدتْهُ وجَدَّدتْ
تاريخَthe history مسجدِof a mosque للإمامِfor the Imam الأعظمthe Greatest
تاريخَ مسجدِ للإمامِ الأعظم
She has indeed restored it, built it up, and renewed
She restored, rebuilt, and renewed it
the history of the mosque of the Greatest Imam.
