يَهناmay he rejoice أبوfather of عيسىIsa وإخوانُهُand his brothers
يَهنا أبو عيسى وإخوانُهُ
بالفَرَحِin joy الباقيenduring ممرَّthrough the passage of الدُّهورِthe ages
بالفَرَحِ الباقي ممرَّ الدُّهورِ
May Abu Isa and his brothers rejoice
With everlasting joy passing the ages
In joy enduring through the ages.
Finding pleasures as is fitting
يلقىhe finds المسرّاتِdelights كماas ينبغيis fitting
يلقى المسرّاتِ كما ينبغي
فيin عَقْدِهhis marriage contract هذاthis ويلقىand he finds الحبورgladness
في عَقْدِه هذا ويلقى الحبور
May he find delights, as is fitting,
In this celebration of his and finding delights
In this marriage contract of his, and find gladness.
He has gathered the nobles in an assembly
قدindeed جَمَعَgathered الأشرافthe nobles فيin مجلسٍan assembly
قد جَمَعَ الأشراف في مجلسٍ
فكلّso all أهلpeople of الفضلmerit فيهin it حضورpresent
فكلّ أهل الفضل فيه حضور
He has gathered the nobles in an assembly,
So all people of merit are present
And all people of merit are present there.
They visited him for the celebration by appointment
زاروهthey visited him للعَقدfor the marriage contract علىat موعدٍan appointed time
زاروه للعَقد على موعدٍ
زيارةًa visit يأنَسُtakes delight فيهاin it المزورthe person visited
زيارةً يأنَسُ فيها المزور
They visited him for the marriage contract at an appointed time,
A visit where the visitor feels at ease
A visit in which the one visited takes delight.
All those who resembled him like a drop of dew
منfrom كلّevery مَنone whom أشْبَهَهresembled him قطرَdrops of النَّدىdew
من كلّ مَن أشْبَهَه قطرَ النَّدى
بالجودin generosity والإقدامand in daring ليثa lion هصورfierce
بالجود والإقدام ليث هصور
From every man whom dew's drops resemble
In generosity and lion-like valor
In generosity, and whom a fierce lion resembles in daring.
So they commenced the celebration and rejoiced
فباشَرواso they proceeded بالعَقدِwith the marriage contract واستبشرواand rejoiced
فباشَروا بالعَقدِ واستبشروا
بأوجهٍat faces تُشْرِقُshine منهاfrom them البدورthe full moons
بأوجهٍ تُشْرِقُ منها البدور
So they proceeded with the contract and rejoiced
With faces from which orbs shine
At faces from which full moons shine.
And they recorded his celebration
وأرَّخوهand they dated it المصطفىal-Mustafa (the chosen one) عَقْدُهُhis marriage contract
وأرَّخوه المصطفى عَقْدُهُ
عَقْدُa contract of نكاحٍmarriage بالهناwith happiness والسرورand joy
عَقْدُ نكاحٍ بالهنا والسرور
And they dated it: 'Al-Mustafa's contract
A marriage contract with bliss and delight
Is a marriage contract with happiness and joy.'
