أنظرْ إلى دار حسن قد حَلَلَتْ بها

وما يَسُرُّك من رَوضٍ وبستان

Look at a house of beauty where you have dwelt,

And what delights you in garden and orchard.

وانشق عبير شذا أزهارها فلقد

أهدَتْ إليك شذا روح وريحان

أهدَتْ إليك شذا روح وريحان

And inhale its flowers’ fragrant perfume, for indeed

They have bestowed on you the fragrance of comfort and sweet basil.

أجاد غارسُها غرساً وأحسَنَ في

ما قد بناه فإحكام وإتقان

ما قد بناه فإحكام وإتقان

Its planter planted skillfully and excelled in

What he built—such soundness and perfection.

تحلُّها السادة الأشراف لا برحَتْ

مأوى الأماجد من سادات عدنان

مأوى الأماجد من سادات عدنان

Noble lords inhabit it; may it never cease to be

A refuge for the illustrious among the lords of Adnan.

فاقت على غيرها فضلاً بساكنها

فاقت على غيرها فضلاً بساكنها

لمّا بناها وكان الفضل للباني

لمّا بناها وكان الفضل للباني

It surpassed others in excellence through its inhabitant,

When he built it—and the credit was the builder’s.

فقال من قد رآها حين أرّخها

فقال من قد رآها حين أرّخها

دارٌ لسلمانَ قد فاقت بسلمان

دارٌ لسلمانَ قد فاقت بسلمان

So one who had seen it said, when he recorded its date:

A house for Salman—it has excelled through Salman.
