أيّها الناظر المفكّرُ فيما

قَصَرَتْ عن نَظيره أنظارُهْ

قَصَرَتْ عن نَظيره أنظارُهْ

O observer, pondering that

Whose like has eluded his gaze,

ما الَّذي أَنْتَ قائل في أمير

ما الَّذي أَنْتَ قائل في أمير

من فخارٍ وهذه آثاره

من فخارٍ وهذه آثاره

What will you say of an emir

By way of praise, when these are his works?

جادَ في حُسنها وأحسنُ منها

جادَ في حُسنها وأحسنُ منها

في معاليه مجده واقتداره

في معاليه مجده واقتداره

He excelled in beautifying it; yet fairer than it

Are his glory and might among his noble qualities.

دارُ عِزّ الأمير جابر فيها

دارُ عِزّ الأمير جابر فيها

مذ بناها محلُّه وقراره

مذ بناها محلُّه وقراره

A house of honor, where Emir Jabir

Has had his dwelling and abode since he built it,

لتحلّ الضيوف في ما بناه

لتحلّ الضيوف في ما بناه

وترى ما يَسُرُّها زوّاره

وترى ما يَسُرُّها زوّاره

So that guests may lodge in what he built

And his visitors see what delights them.

شيدَ داراً وعزَّ جاراً فأرِّخْ

شيدَ داراً وعزَّ جاراً فأرِّخْ

بُنِيَتْ بالسرور والعزِّ دارُه

بُنِيَتْ بالسرور والعزِّ دارُه

He raised a house and was exalted as a neighbor; so record the date:

His house was built with joy and honor.
