Ah, may the All-Merciful cut off all who cut others off,

Doing harm through their judgments, doing no good,

Content with injustice, greedy and never satisfied,

An unjust judge with none to match him—

Yet in oppression he cuts more keenly than a sharp blade.

How many crimes he has committed in his judgments!

And he has gone on in his own error and delusion.

May a judge who never found guidance never return.

He judged and went his way—but to every extreme

Of disgrace that no judge would ever attain.

We have been afflicted with an oppressive judge, not a just one.

He rules unjustly, his judgment deficient and of no use.

And among the gravest trials is to be afflicted with an ignorant man.

They say, 'He judges'; I said, 'But unjustly.'

And they said, 'He cuts up the truth'; I said, 'With shears.'
