Why, when I called you to listen,
How is it that I called you to listen,
You pour not down, nor answer
Do you neither listen nor answer?
yet you neither listen nor reply?

Nor setting diminished you
Nor sunset has gained its desire of you.
its aim with you, nor has setting.

Visit me when the watcher is heedless,
Sometimes the watcher is distracted
Perhaps the watchman will be heedless.
and sometimes the watcher is heedless.

A passionate lover, stricken in his very soul,
a lovesick man, wounded in his heart's blood,
His tears forever pouring
Whose tears pour down forever.
so his tears pour forever.

A heart's core melting away.
For it is a liver melting away.

The physician has failed—and what a malady

Whoever's ailment is the beloved
Only the beloved can cure him
Has no cure but the beloved.
has no cure but the beloved.
