في رحمة الله حلَّ شيخٌ

في رحمة الله حلَّ شيخٌ

وجنّةٍ دارها الخلودُ

وجنّةٍ دارها الخلودُ

A sheikh has come to dwell in God’s mercy,

A sheikh has settled in God's mercy,

A sheikh has passed away in God's mercy

and in a Garden whose abode is eternity.

And in a paradise whose abode is eternity.

To a paradise where immortality dwells

تفيضُ من صدره علومٌ

تفيضُ من صدره علومٌ

وقد طمى بحرها المديد

وقد طمى بحرها المديد

Sciences pour forth from his breast,

Knowledge pours forth from his breast,

Knowledge flows from his chest

and their vast sea has overflowed.

And its vast sea has overflowed.

And his vast sea of wisdom is overflowing

ولم يزل ميّتاً وحيًّا

ولم يزل ميّتاً وحيًّا

من علمه النَّاس تستفيد

من علمه النَّاس تستفيد

And never, whether he was dead or alive, did people cease

And still, in death as in life,

He was alive with knowledge and wisdom

to benefit from his knowledge.

People benefit from his knowledge.

People continue to benefit from his teachings

سار إلى ربه غير فان

سار إلى ربه غير فان

بالعز وهو العزيز الحميد

بالعز وهو العزيز الحميد

He journeyed to his Lord, yet did not perish,

He journeyed to his Lord, undying,

He journeyed to his Lord with honor and dignity

in glory—for He is the Almighty, the Praiseworthy.

In glory—and He is the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.

The Almighty, the Praiseworthy

ومذ توفّاه قلتُ أرِّخْ

ومذ توفّاه قلتُ أرِّخْ

مضى إلى ربه السعيد

مضى إلى ربه السعيد

And when He took him in death, I said, “Record the date:

And when He took him in death, I said: Record the date—

Since he passed away, I say: record it -

The blessed one has passed on to his Lord.”

The blessed one has gone to his Lord.

He has gone to his Lord in bliss
