شَفَيْتَyou healed بطردِby expelling صالحِSalih كلّevery صدرٍbreast
شَفَيْتَ بطردِ صالحِ كلّ صدرٍ
ولمand not تَبْرَحْyou cease شِفاءًa cure للصدورِfor breasts
ولم تَبْرَحْ شِفاءً للصدورِ
By expelling Salih, you healed every breast,
You have cured every noble heart by banishing the corrupt
And you have never ceased to be a balm for breasts.
And have remained a healer of hearts

And you purged the sacred law of a vile man
You have purified the Law from the base
Who sells religion for a paltry copper coin.
Who sells religion for a small coin

His soul's greedy desires have brought him,
His selfish desires have deformed him
As you know, to a wretched end.
As you know, to wretched destiny

And he complains of his poverty to people, one and all,
And he complains of poverty falsely to people
Yet, by your Lord, he is not poor.
While he and your Lord know he's no pauper

In his audacity he undertook deeds;
He has undertaken from his insolence matters
In those deeds he pleases your enemies.
That delight your enemies in those matters

And he lashes out with a tyrant's force, although
And he lashes with the lash of a tyrant, though
His heart takes flight at a whistle.
He has a feeble spirit that flees from hissing

How, then, can our lord be gentle with a foe
So how could our Master be gentle to a foe
Harsher toward you than unyielding rocks?
Harder on you than deaf rocks

Ungrateful, if you are mentioned to him in absence
Woe upon him—what a vicious dog!
Woe to the ungrateful dog

He who makes himself filthy and wicked
When could he meet you with a pure heart?
When will he meet you with a pure heart?

If he were cast one day into the depths of the sea,
If he were thrown into the sea's turbulence one day
His gray hair would surely defile the waters of the seas.
His old age would taint the water of oceans

You looked upon him with the eyes of a merciful man,
You looked upon him with the eyes of the Merciful
Pardoning his offense, ever forgiving.
All-forgiving of his crime

And you revived his name after death,
And revived his name after death
And he had been counted among the dwellers of graves.
When he was counted among the dead

So he returned to what he was forbidden, and remained
But he returned to what he was forbidden and spent the night
In that folly and depravity.
Upon that idiocy and immorality

In his ignorance without knowledge he supposes
That you are neither informed nor aware.
That you are not aware and informed

His baseness cast him into the bottom of a well.
His villainy has thrown him down a well

No, by the Lord of al-Khawarnaq and al-Sadir—
By the Lord of al-Khornaq and al-Sadeer

If his hands ever reached you one day
That man of short reach would show you death.
I see you meeting a short death

And indeed the reports you hear about him,
Though hearing the news of him from you
However many, are but a little of a great deal.
Be little however plentiful

And he has disturbed all who love you from us
And before, we were like clear, sweet water.
While we were before like limpid water

And donkeys would not accept him if we
We classed him among the donkey kind.
Attributed him to the genus of donkeys

You removed his presence and thus earned a reward
You have removed his existence, so you have gained
Like the greatest reward there can be.
The greatest reward there can be

So you—may you be ransomed—are a fortress for Islam,
For you - may I be sacrificed for you - are a fortress
And a rampart for the sacred law—what a rampart!
And battlements for the Law, what battlements!

You defend the sacred law of Taha's faith,
Defending the Law of the religion of Taha
With its keen blade, as a zealous guardian defends.
With its past, like the zealous defender
