لا تصدّق عليك عقد صداق

لا تصدّق عليك عقد صداق

واغن بالمطل فيه عن ترويج

واغن بالمطل فيه عن ترويج

Do not ratify a dower contract that binds you;

Do not believe the marriage contract on you

And make do with delaying it, rather than advancing it.

And suffice with procrastination about advertising it

ومتى ما ذكرت يوم الخطب

ومتى ما ذكرت يوم الخطب

فلتكن خطبة بلا تزويج

فلتكن خطبة بلا تزويج

And whenever you mention the day of betrothal,

And whenever the day of engagement is mentioned

Let it be a sermon, without a wedding.

Let it be an engagement without marriage
