غدوت بها يا صاح منشرح الصدر
Yes, and you have shown kindness with a most noble invitation.
Yes, and you have the greatest merit
Yes, yours is the merit of the most noble invitation,
Through it, my friend, my breast has filled with joy.
With which I came, O friend, expansive of chest
Through which, O friend, my heart became expanded with joy.
وقدand indeed قيلit has been said لاnot يأبىrefuses الكرامةhonor غيرexcept منone who
وقد قيل لا يأبى الكرامة غير من
لهhe has عرقa vein لؤمbaseness لمhas not يزلceased فيin الخناdepravity يسريcourses
له عرق لؤم لم يزل في الخنا يسري
And it has been said: none refuses honor except one
And it has been said, generosity is only refused by one
For it is said that none refuses such honor save him
Who has a vein of baseness forever coursing through depravity.
Who has the vein of cowardice always flowing in him
Who bears a vein of baseness flowing ever in shame.

لمجلسكم أعلى الكرامة عندنا
ولفظكمand your speech أشهىmore delightful إليناto us منthan الدرpearls
ولفظكم أشهى إلينا من الدر
Your gathering holds the highest honor in our eyes,
For your gathering, the highest generosity for us
Your assembly holds the highest rank in our esteem,
And your speech is more delightful to us than pearls.
And your words, more desirable to us than pearls
And your words are more desirable to us than pearls.
رؤيتكمthe sight of you أجلىmost effective in dispelling لهميof my sorrow وإننيand indeed I
رؤيتكم أجلى لهمي وإنني
غنيتI had no need بهاthrough it عنof طلعةthe sight الشمسthe sun والبدرand the full moon
غنيت بها عن طلعة الشمس والبدر
The sight of you best dispels my sorrow, and indeed I
Seeing you clears my worries and even though

Have no need, through it, of the sight of the sun and the full moon.
I have become, through it, needless of sunrise and moon

أياO واحداًa peerless one عنديin my eyes يعدّis counted بذاin this العصرage
أيا واحداً عندي يعدّ بذا العصر
Upon you be greetings of acceptance, which you renew,
On you greetings of acceptance, repeat them
Upon you be greetings of acceptance, repeated without end,
O you who, in my eyes, are counted peerless in this age.
O unique one, for me, counted in this time
O you who are reckoned, in my eyes, the peerless one of this age.
