وبأحمد وبأخته أتقرّب
With my father and mother I would ransom you from death.
With my father and mother, I ransom you from death,
And through Ahmad and his sister I seek nearness.
And by Ahmad and his sister, I seek to draw near.

إن لم أكن بفدائكم أتلقب
Alas for my sorrow, alas for my ruin, alas for my disappointment,
Oh, my sorrow! Oh, my loss! Oh, my despair!
if I am not called your ransom!
If I am not called by the name of your ransom.

لعلى لظىً وحجارها أتقلب
By your life! For, in separation from you,
By your life, I swear that in your absence,
I surely writhe upon blazing fire and its stones.
I writhe upon a blazing fire and its stones.

Is there a sandgrouse that might one day lend its wing
Is there a sandgrouse that might one day lend its wing
to a lovesick man who has come to suffer through separation from you?
To a yearning lover tormented by your separation?

روحي فداكم في رضاكم أرغب
So that I may see myself in your sanctuary, offering
Until I see myself within your sanctuary, offering
my soul as a ransom for you; I yearn for your pleasure.
My soul as ransom, longing for your contentment.
