    A wondrous beauty wishes me joy on Eid al-Adha.

    She glows with exalted beauty, without adornment.

    She sways like a branch when the north wind passes over it,

    Or a drinker drunk on the wine of Darin.

    يميل من طرب ميل الرياحين

    You see him intoxicated as the wine steals through him;

    He sways in rapture as fragrant herbs sway.

    من سحب فاحمها بانت بتلوين

    A slender-waisted beauty: a moon appears to us from her face;

    From the clouds of her jet-black hair, she emerges in varied hues.

    تصيبني ثم تسبيني وتكويني

    She shoots her glances from the bow of her eyebrow;

    She strikes me, then takes me captive and sears me.

    فطال ترداد عيني بين شمسين

    And at sunrise she appeared, putting the sun to flight;

    So my gaze lingered, moving back and forth between two suns.

    And I do not know—is my intoxication from her musk-pods,

    Or from those breaths of my loved ones that greet me?

    My loved ones, yours is pure affection, just as

    You have given me pure love, never paltry.

    May you ever remain a watering place where the thirsty find life,

    And a timely refuge for humankind's seekers of bounty.

    May my God give my loved ones life and grant them more

    Bounty, and lodge them in the highest heights.

    وقرّ أعينهم دنيا مع الدين

    And preserve, my God, what You generously bestowed on them;

    And cool their eyes with joy, in worldly life and in faith.

    And ward off evil from them, O my God, and do not

    Give adversaries any way to prevail over them.

    And make their joy pure and unclouded,

    And make their days the days of the two Eids.

    And cover them with protection's cloak, O my hope,

    By the sanctity of the secret between kaf and nun,

    By the honor of the best of creation and those who follow him.

    Amen, amen! O Possessor of bounty, answer me.
