للقياكم شوق المحب لمن يهوى
I am indeed well this evening, yet my heart yearns
I have reached the evening in wellness, yet my heart is yearning,
To meet you, as a lover longs for the one he loves.
To meet you—the longing of a lover for the one he adores.

وذكركم أنساني الضر والبلوى
I yearn to see you, but my affliction keeps me away.
I ache to see you, though my affliction prevents me,
And remembering you has made me forget affliction and suffering.
Yet the remembrance of you has made me forget the pain and the trial.

بساحتكم يا من هو الغاية القصوى
Though my body lies in bed, my aspiration
For though my body lies confined to this bed, my spirit
Is in your courtyard, O you who are the ultimate goal.
Dwells in your courtyard, O you who are the ultimate goal.

ويجمعنا فيكم ويكشف ذي الشكوى
I asked my God to ease the affliction,
I have beseeched my Lord to alleviate my suffering,
And bring us together in your company, and relieve this suffering.
And to reunite us with you, and lift away this complaint.
