وبالحولand with might أمددتنيyou sustained me والقوىand powers
You appeared to my heart as it had intended,
My heart has revealed what it intended
And sustained me with might and strength.
And with determination, you have empowered me
فياso O منthe one who بهthrough him فيwithin me زادincreased الجوىlove's anguish
أحبكI love you حبينtwo loves حبَّthe love of الهوىdesire
So, O you through whom love's anguish has grown within me,
Oh you who with it is the provision for the journey
I love you with two loves: the love of desire,
I love you with two loves - the love of passion
وحباًand a love لأنكbecause you أهلٌworthy لذاكاof that
حبيبيmy beloved هوhe الداءthe ailment ليfor me والدواand the cure
And a love because you are worthy of it.
And love because you are deserving of it
My beloved is my ailment and my cure,
My beloved is the cure for me and the medicine
وذاكand that one العليمthe all-knowing بماof what قدalready روىhe recounted
أقولI say لهto him وعليand over me احتوىhe encompassed
And he knows full well what he has recounted.
And the All-Knowing of what has been narrated
I say to him, as he enfolds me:
I say to Him and depend on Him
فأماso as for الذيthat which هوit حبthe love of الهوىdesire
فشيءthen something شغلتI have been occupied بهwith it عنaway from سواكاanyone but you
As for that which is the love of desire,
As for that which is the love of passion
It is something that has absorbed me, to the exclusion of all but you.
It is something that distracted me from others
ألاah علَّperhaps منthe one who شاقنيmade me yearn علَّهُperhaps he
يداويhe heals فؤاديmy heart بماwith what علَّهُmade it ill
Ah, perhaps the one who made me yearn—perhaps he
Oh He who has made me suffer, may He
Will heal my heart with what made it ill.
Heal my heart with what ails it
علىwith عشقكlove for you القلبthe heart منwho علَّهُmade it ill
وأماand as for الذيthat which أنتyou أهلworthy لهُof it
Who made the heart ill with love for you?
For your love has made my heart ill
And as for that of which you are worthy,
And as for the one whom you deserve
فكشفكthen your unveiling للحجبof the veils حتىuntil أراكاI see you
فؤاديmy heart بفرطwith the intensity of الجوىlove's anguish ممتليfilled
It is your lifting of the veils until I see you.
Your unveiling of mysteries so I can see you
My heart is filled with the fierce anguish of love,
My heart is filled with intense passion
وعينيand my eye ترىsees للجمالupon the beauty العليsublime
وحالانand two states عنديwith me هماboth of them أجتليI behold
And my eye beholds sublime beauty.
And my eyes see the most sublime beauty
And I have two states, both of which I behold:
And I have two states that preoccupy me
فلاso no حمدpraise فيin ذاthis ولاnor ذاكthat ليfor me
ولكنbut لكto you الحمدthe praise فيin ذاthis وذاكاand that
So no praise is mine in this or that,
So there is no praise in this or that for me
But yours is the praise in this and that.
But for you is praise in this and that
