منwhoever رآهاsaw it حارْwas bewildered نبهتit awakened عينeye الفتىthe youth الراقدْthe sleeping one
من رآها حارْ نبهت عين الفتى الراقدْ
A paradise in fire, a delight to the eyes.
A paradise in fire, delight of sights
Whoever saw it was bewildered; it awakened the sleeping youth's eye.
He who saw it burned, awakened the eye of the slumbering youth
ياO لقوميfor my people طارْflew منfrom يدhand الأفكارْthe thoughts
يا لقومي طارْ من يد الأفكارْ
بلبلnightingale الأسحارْthe predawn hours وعلىand toward كلall السوىwhat is other حاقدْresentful
بلبل الأسحارْ وعلى كل السوى حاقدْ
O my people! From the hand of thoughts has flown
Oh my people flew from the grasp of thoughts
The nightingale of the predawn hours—and it bears rancor toward all else.
Nightingale of dreams, and enemy of all besides
هذهthese الآثارْthe traces كلهاall of them أطوارْphases
هذه الآثارْ كلها أطوارْ
للذيfor the one who يختارْchooses قربnearness هذاthis الصادقthe truthful one الناقدْthe discerning one
للذي يختارْ قرب هذا الصادق الناقدْ
These traces are all phases
These traces, all are phases
For whoever chooses nearness to this truthful, discerning one.
For those who choose, nearness to this truthful critic
أيمنthe right side of الواديthe valley مشربdrinking place الصاديthe thirsty one
أيمن الوادي مشرب الصادي
إنif حداchanted to drive camels الحاديthe camel-driver هاجstirred وجدecstasy المغرمthe enamored one الفانيthe self-effaced one
إن حدا الحادي هاج وجد المغرم الفاني
The valley's right side is the thirsty one's drinking place.
Right of valley, drinking-place of the arriver
If the camel-driver chants, the ecstasy of the enamored, self-effaced one stirs.
If the confiner confined, the ardent lover found
فادخلso enter الناديthe gathering place واشهدand behold الباديthe manifest
فادخل النادي واشهد البادي
دكshattering أطواديmy mountains مؤذنproclaiming أنthat السوىwhat is other فانيpassing away
دك أطوادي مؤذن أن السوى فاني
So enter the gathering place and behold the manifest.
Enter the club, and behold the evident
The shattering of my mountains proclaims that all else passes away.
Your virtues proclaim the caller that all else perishes

كل أعيادي شعب أجيادي
أيهاO الغاديthe morning traveler قفstop بهat it عنيfor me بأشجانwith sorrows
أيها الغادي قف به عني بأشجان
All my feast days are the ravine of my Ajyad.
All my feast days, people of my steeds
O morning traveler, stop there for me with sorrow.
O you walking, stand by it, by ardors
صلbestow blessings ياO هاديGuide للنبيfor the Prophet الهاديthe guiding one
صل يا هادي للنبي الهادي
فيin الدجىthe darkness عهدهhis covenant عبدservant of الغنيthe Self-Sufficient عاقدbinding
في الدجى عهده عبد الغني عاقد
Bestow blessings, O Guide, upon the guiding Prophet.
Pray, O guide, for the guiding prophet
In the darkness, Abd al-Ghani seals his covenant.
In the gloom his pact, servant of the Rich, contracting
Sol 6.1
