نحن علْمُ الله في الله وما

نحن علْمُ الله في الله وما

لفتى منا سوى الله وجودْ

لفتى منا سوى الله وجودْ

We are God's knowledge within God, and no

We are the knowledge of God in God, and none

young man among us has existence apart from God.

Of us has existence except God alone

نحن معلوماته في علمه

نحن معلوماته في علمه

ولنا في ذاك إكرامٌ وجود

ولنا في ذاك إكرامٌ وجود

We are the objects of His knowledge, within His knowledge,

We are His known things in His knowledge

and in that, honor and generosity are ours.

And we have thereby honor and existence

لا تقل أوجدنا الله ولا

لا تقل أوجدنا الله ولا

أننا وجودُ حقٍّ ذو حدود

أننا وجودُ حقٍّ ذو حدود

Do not say that God brought us into being, nor

Say not God brought us into being, nor

that we are a bounded existence of the Real.

That we're existent truth with limits sure

نحن يا ابن اليوم شيء هالك

نحن يا ابن اليوم شيء هالك

من قديم للفنا فيه عهود

من قديم للفنا فيه عهود

We, O son of today, are a perishing thing;

We, O son of this age, are things to perish

from of old, annihilation has held covenants within it.

Since old for vanishing we pacts did cherish

جل وجهُ الله أن نشركه

جل وجهُ الله أن نشركه

بوجود أو بقاء أو صمود

بوجود أو بقاء أو صمود

God's Face is too exalted for us to associate partners with Him

Glorious is God's face that we associate

in existence, permanence, or steadfastness.

Him with existence, staying power or steadfast state

نحن كالبرق سريعاً نختفي

نحن كالبرق سريعاً نختفي

ثم نبدو لمحةً ثم نعود

ثم نبدو لمحةً ثم نعود

Like lightning, we swiftly vanish,

Like lightning we swiftly disappear

then appear for an instant, then return.

Then for a flash appear, then re-adhere

هكذا يذكرنا الله على

هكذا يذكرنا الله على

كثرة الأطوار من غير جمود

كثرة الأطوار من غير جمود

Thus God mentions us throughout

Thus does God mention us with

the multitude of states, without stagnation.

Many aspects, not fixed or stiff

فاعرفونا تعرفوا أنفسكم

فاعرفونا تعرفوا أنفسكم

مثلنا واحترزوا من الجحود

مثلنا واحترزوا من الجحود

So know us, and you will know yourselves

So know us to know yourselves, the same

to be like us; and guard yourselves against denial.

As us; and shun all disbelief and shame

ما له ذكر سوى من علمه

ما له ذكر سوى من علمه

بجميع الخلق من بيض وسود

بجميع الخلق من بيض وسود

His mention comes only from His knowledge

None but He who knew all creation has

of all creation, white and black.

Mention, whether black men or white race

فهو لا يخرج عنه كائن

فهو لا يخرج عنه كائن

بل من العلم إلى العلم يرود

بل من العلم إلى العلم يرود

For no being goes beyond it;

For nothing is outside of Him, every being

rather, it roams from knowledge to knowledge.

Returns from knowledge back to knowing

كلهم فيه ولا كل لهم

كلهم فيه ولا كل لهم

عدم حاق به محضُ وُجود

عدم حاق به محضُ وُجود

All of them are within it, yet no totality is theirs:

All are in Him and nothing is for them

nonbeing, encompassed by pure existence.

Sheer existence, void, pure to Him belong

واسع قال عليم ربنا

واسع قال عليم ربنا

وسعت رحمته كل الجنود

وسعت رحمته كل الجنود

Our Lord said, 'All-Encompassing, All-Knowing';

“Vast”, said He, “All-Knowing is our Lord”

His mercy has encompassed all the hosts.

His mercy encompassed all spirit horde

فالذي يؤمن بالحق الذي

فالذي يؤمن بالحق الذي

قلته نال مقامات السعود

قلته نال مقامات السعود

So whoever believes in the truth that

He who believes the truth I have just said

I have spoken attains the stations of felicity.

Attains stations of felicity widespread

والذي ينكر أشقى هو من

والذي ينكر أشقى هو من

عاقر الناقة في قوم ثمود

عاقر الناقة في قوم ثمود

And whoever denies it is more wretched than

And he who denies is more wretched than

he who hamstrung the she-camel among the people of Thamud.

The she-camel's hamstringer Thamud clan

وهو علم الله أيضاً مثلنا

وهو علم الله أيضاً مثلنا

نازل للذكر من غير صعود

نازل للذكر من غير صعود

And he too is God's knowledge, like us,

And he is God's knowledge too, like us

descending to be mentioned, without ascent.

Sent down for mention, no ascending thus
