نحن قوم ذنوبنا للأعادي

أخذوها بغيبة وانتقاد

We are a people whose sins go to our enemies;

They took them through backbiting and criticism.

وأخذنا طاعاتهم بازدراء

وعتوٍّ في حقنا وعناد

And we took their acts of obedience through their contempt,

And their insolence toward us and their defiance.

كيف لا نرتقي عليهم ونعلو

ونرى كل ساعة في ازدياد

How could we not rise above them and ascend,

And see ourselves grow with every hour?

وهم العاملون خيراً لنا إن

عملوا لانتهاك حق العباد

And they are the ones doing good for us, if

They act to violate the rights of God's servants.

وهم الغاسلون للذنب عنا

مثل بالوعة لنفي فساد

And they are the ones washing sin away from us,

Like a drain for removing corruption.

ولهم كل ساعة حرب شرك

واعتراض على عطاء الجواد

And theirs, every hour, is a war of idolatry,

And objection to the Bountiful One's gift.

ولنا صبر ذي الكمال عليهم

ولنا بالدعا ثواب جهاد

And toward them, ours is the patience of one endowed with perfection,

And through supplication, ours is the reward of jihad.

خلهم يا أخا المودة فينا

يطعنوا إن الله بالمرصاد

Let them, O brother who loves us,

Assail us; surely God lies in wait.
