ما هذه عندنا الأجسام والصورُ

ما هذه عندنا الأجسام والصورُ

وإنما هذه الآيات والسورُ

وإنما هذه الآيات والسورُ

To us, these are not bodies and forms;

What are these bodies and forms that we have,

and these are only verses and surahs.

Except signs and verses from the Lord?

كلام خالقنا كن أمره فيكو

كلام خالقنا كن أمره فيكو

ن الخلق أجمعهم يا من له بصر

ن الخلق أجمعهم يا من له بصر

Our Creator's speech: 'Be!' is His command, and so comes into

The words of our Creator - be His will in you -

being all creation, O you who have sight.

All creation, O you who can see,

حس فعقل فرب ليس يدركه

حس فعقل فرب ليس يدركه

حس وعقل وفيه حارت الفكر

حس وعقل وفيه حارت الفكر

Sense, then intellect, then a Lord not apprehended

Senses, intellect and a Lord beyond grasp of senses and mind-

by sense or intellect; in Him thoughts are bewildered.

Thought is confounded in trying to reach Him.

مراتب هي عين تلك واحدة

مراتب هي عين تلك واحدة

دنياك فالبرزخ الأخرى هي العبر

دنياك فالبرزخ الأخرى هي العبر

Levels—their very essence is one:

Levels of being are but one reality,

your world, then the barzakh, the other world—these are lessons.

Your mundane life, and the grave, lessons to ponder.

وقل هو الغير ثم الفصل منه له

وقل هو الغير ثم الفصل منه له

فالذات وانظر به يكشف لك النظر

فالذات وانظر به يكشف لك النظر

And say, 'He is the other'; then distinction is from Him, for Him.

Say He is other, then distinct, yet still a part of His oneness,

Then the Essence; look through Him—vision will unveil it to you.

Essence, and behold through Him clear insight.

والحق حق قديم في مراتبه

والحق حق قديم في مراتبه

عين المراتب والفاني هو الأثر

عين المراتب والفاني هو الأثر

And the Real is beginningless reality in His levels,

Truth is eternal truth in all its degrees,

the very essence of the levels; it is the trace that perishes.

The levels are one, all else passes away.

والأول الله لا ثان له أزلاً

والأول الله لا ثان له أزلاً

والآخر الله لا تبقى له أخر

والآخر الله لا تبقى له أخر

And the First is God; from eternity He has no second.

First, God, no second to Him, eternal,

And the Last is God; no others remain for Him.

Last, God, no end to Him remains.

والظاهر الله والأغيار باطلة

والظاهر الله والأغيار باطلة

والباطن الله لا يدرَى له خبر

والباطن الله لا يدرَى له خبر

And the Manifest is God; other things are unreal.

Apparent, God, all else unreal,

And the Hidden is God; no tidings of Him are known.

Hidden, God, His mystery cannot be known.

كن عارفاً مثلنا بالله لا بك في

كن عارفاً مثلنا بالله لا بك في

ما قلته لك واصدق أيها البشر

ما قلته لك واصدق أيها البشر

Be a knower like us, through God, not through yourself, in

Be gnostic of God through us, not through yourself

what I have told you; be truthful, O humankind.

In what we've told you - believe, O human!

فإن قولي من القرآن مأخذه

فإن قولي من القرآن مأخذه

وسنة المصطفى والقهر معتبر

وسنة المصطفى والقهر معتبر

For what I say has its source in the Qur'an

My words stem from Quran, the Prophet's ways,

and the Chosen One's Sunnah; overwhelming power is acknowledged.

God's self-disclosure, demolisher of doubts.

فهم من الله لا مِنّا به ظهرت

فهم من الله لا مِنّا به ظهرت

لنا الحقائق لا يبقي ولا يذر

لنا الحقائق لا يبقي ولا يذر

Understanding is from God, not from us; through it appeared

Light upon light, God guides whom He will

to us the realities; it spares nothing and leaves nothing.

To His light, wherever destiny dictates.

نور على النور يهدي الله خالقنا

نور على النور يهدي الله خالقنا

لنوره من يشا حيث اقتضى القدر

لنوره من يشا حيث اقتضى القدر

Light upon light; God, our Creator, guides

to His light whomever He wills, as destiny decrees.
