and meanings apprehended—

And meanings to be grasped

at each moment, others than these

Every time unlike them

fell from the hand of the Real,

Falls from the hand of Truth

مثل لمع البرق في

حركات وحقط

like the flash of lightning in

Like the flash of lightning in

motions and swift darting.

Motions and folds

He did not repeat them, and nothing

He never repeats them, and not

altered them but the dots.

A letter but the dot

وهي في تحقيقها

هي نسر وزقط

And in their actual realization,

they are a vulture and small birds,

It is an eagle and a grouse

ورياض وربا

وطعام وأقط

and gardens and hills,

And gardens and Lord

and food and dried curds.

And food and crumbs

فاترك الفاني الذي

هو وهم ملتقط

So leave the perishable, which

So leave the ephemeral that

is an illusion picked up

Is an illusion grasped

منه لا تحسبه

ليس غير الإسم قط

from Him; do not reckon it—

From it do not consider it

it is never anything but a name:

Nothing but the name grasped

باطل منعدم

وله الحق لقط

وله الحق لقط

unreal, nonexistent,

False nonexistent

and the Real has gathered it for Himself.

And for Him is the Truth grasped
