هذا الوجود وهذا الواحد الأحدُ

هذا الوجود وهذا الواحد الأحدُ

ولا يشاركه في وصفه أحدُ

ولا يشاركه في وصفه أحدُ

This is Being, and this is the One, the Unique.

This existence, this One, the One

And no one shares His attribute.

None can share with Him in describing Him

وكل من عنده دعوى الوجود طغى

وكل من عنده دعوى الوجود طغى

يشارك الله وهو الله لا يلد

يشارك الله وهو الله لا يلد

And everyone who claims existence has transgressed:

And whoever claims existence has transgressed

He makes himself God's partner, though God Himself does not beget.

Sharing in divinity, while God does not beget

من أين جاء له هذا الوجود ألم

من أين جاء له هذا الوجود ألم

يكن له نظر في عين ما يجد

يكن له نظر في عين ما يجد

Where did this existence come to him from? Did he not

Whence came to him this existence, did he not

consider the very essence of what he finds?

Reflect in the eye of what he finds?

بكل شيء محيط قال خالقنا

بكل شيء محيط قال خالقنا

وقد أحاط بهذا المدعي الصمد

وقد أحاط بهذا المدعي الصمد

“Encompassing all things,” our Creator said;

Encompassing all things, said our Creator

and the Self-Sufficient has indeed encompassed this claimant.

And He has encompassed this pretentious claimant, the Eternal

وظالم هو في دعوى الوجود مع ال

وظالم هو في دعوى الوجود مع ال

لَه الذي هو نور دائماً يقد

لَه الذي هو نور دائماً يقد

And he is unjust in claiming existence alongside

Wrongful is he in claiming existence with God

God, who is a light forever burning.

To whom belongs everlasting Light that guides

وهو القريب المجيب الرب ليس له

وهو القريب المجيب الرب ليس له

حد ولا أزل معْهُ ولا أبد

حد ولا أزل معْهُ ولا أبد

And He is the Near, the Responsive, the Lord; He has no

He is the Near, Responder, Lord without

limit, nor a beginningless past beside Him, nor an endless future.

End or beginning, with Him no end

وإنما الله هذا وحده وبه

وإنما الله هذا وحده وبه

أفعاله ظهرت منه لها المدد

أفعاله ظهرت منه لها المدد

And this is God alone, and through Him

God is this alone, and by Him

His acts became manifest; from Him comes their sustenance.

His actions appeared, receiving support from Him

وهو الوجود بلا شيء يخالطه

وهو الوجود بلا شيء يخالطه

إذ كل شيء هو الفاني له سند

إذ كل شيء هو الفاني له سند

And He is Being, with nothing mingling with Him,

He is existence without anything mixing with Him

for everything is perishing and has a support.

For all things are vanishing, depending on Him

والظاهر الحق لا شيءٌ بدا معه

والظاهر الحق لا شيءٌ بدا معه

والباطن الحق فِقْ يا من له رشد

والباطن الحق فِقْ يا من له رشد

And the Manifest is the Real; nothing appeared alongside Him.

The Real Manifest, nothing appeared with Him

And the Hidden is the Real—awake, you who have discernment.

And the Real Hidden, so understand O you of reason

وكن بلا أنت كشفاً بالوجود ولا

وكن بلا أنت كشفاً بالوجود ولا

تكن بنفسك كن ظلاً له عمد

تكن بنفسك كن ظلاً له عمد

And be without a “you,” through the unveiling of Being; and do not

Be without "you" in unity with existence, and do not

exist by yourself; be a shadow with pillars.

Be with your ego, be a shadow holding to Him

واترك أقاويل أرباب العقول وخذ

واترك أقاويل أرباب العقول وخذ

بما به الله في القرآن معتمد

بما به الله في القرآن معتمد

And leave the sayings of the masters of intellect, and hold

Leave the sayings of the wise and take

to what God upholds in the Qur'an.

What God relies on in the Quran

ولا تؤول نصوصاً عن ظواهرها

ولا تؤول نصوصاً عن ظواهرها

ولا تحرِّف وخذ طبقَ الذي يرد

ولا تحرِّف وخذ طبقَ الذي يرد

And do not reinterpret texts away from their apparent meanings.

Do not interpret texts from their literal meanings

And do not distort; accept it just as it comes.

Nor distort, take directly what comes
