شموس الجمال تزيل الظلمْ
وتَهديand guide إلىto الحقthe truth أهلpeople of الهممْlofty aspirations
وتَهدي إلى الحق أهل الهممْ
The suns of beauty dispel the darkness
The suns of beauty dispel the darkness
And guide those of lofty aspiration to the truth.
And guide those with determination to the truth
شخوصfixed in gaze إليهاtoward her عيونeyes of الأممْthe nations
شخوص إليها عيون الأممْ
وجودexistence لهit has صورforms منfrom عدمْnothingness
وجود له صور من عدمْ
The eyes of the nations gaze fixedly toward her.
The eyes of nations longingly look to them
Existence has forms from nothingness.
An existence from nothingness has appeared
بداappeared وجهthe face of سلمىSalma وزالand disappeared النقابْthe veil
بدا وجه سلمى وزال النقابْ
وقدand indeed جئتI came منهاfrom her إليهاto her كتابْa letter
وقد جئت منها إليها كتابْ
Salma's face appeared, and the veil fell away.
The veil lifted from Salma's face
And I have come from her to her as a letter.
And a message came to her from it
وقدand indeed لاحshone forth ذاكthat الجمالbeauty المهابْawe-inspiring
وقد لاح ذاك الجمال المهابْ
لعينيto my eye وراحتand departed ستورveils of الوهَمْillusion
لعيني وراحت ستور الوهَمْ
And that awe-inspiring beauty shone forth
That awe-inspiring beauty appeared
Before my eye, and the veils of illusion departed.
To my eyes and the veils of illusion vanished
ألاhark ياO حداةchanting drivers of المطاياthe riding camels قفواhalt
ألا يا حداة المطايا قفوا
لقلبيfor my heart بذاكin that الحمىsanctuary موقفُa halting place
لقلبي بذاك الحمى موقفُ
Hark, O drivers of the riding camels, halt!
Oh steadfast mounts, halt!
My heart has a halting place in that sanctuary.
For my heart is stationed at that fever
وعشقيand my passion هوis الخمرwine والقرقفُand fine wine
وعشقي هو الخمر والقرقفُ
لأهلfor people of القلوبhearts بحورseas of الكرمْgenerosity
لأهل القلوب بحور الكرمْ
And my passion is wine and fine wine;
And my passion is the wine and the flask
For people of the heart there are seas of generosity.
For the people of hearts, the seas of generosity
هيshe الكلall والكلand all عنهاfrom her بداappeared
هي الكل والكل عنها بدا
وقدand indeed حجبتshe was veiled عنfrom عيونeyes of العدىthe foes
وقد حجبت عن عيون العدى
She is all, and all came forth from her.
It is the all and the all appeared from it
And she has been veiled from the eyes of foes.
And it was veiled from the eyes of enemies
وأهلand people of الضلالerror وأهلand people of الهدىguidance
وأهل الضلال وأهل الهدى
مظاهرmanifestations of أسرارهاher secrets والحكمand wisdom
مظاهر أسرارها والحكم
And the people of error and the people of guidance
And the misguided and the guided
Are manifestations of her secrets and wisdom.
The manifestations of its secrets and wisdom
وأزكىand the purest الصلاةblessings وأبهاand the most splendid السلامْpeace
وأزكى الصلاة وأبها السلامْ
علىupon المصطفىthe Chosen One خيرthe best of كلall الأنامْcreation
على المصطفى خير كل الأنامْ
And the purest blessings and most splendid peace
And the purest prayer and most beautiful greeting
Be upon the Chosen One, the best of all creation.
Upon the Chosen One, best of all people
بهthrough him زادadded عبدAbd (servant of) الغنيal-Ghani (the Self-Sufficient) فيin النظامْverse
به زاد عبد الغني في النظامْ
لطائفsubtleties معنىًof meaning تزيلdispel الألمْpain

Through him, Abd al-Ghani added to his verse
Through him, Abdel Ghani progressed in harmony
