كفة الغيب كفة الحسناتِ

كفة الغيب كفة الحسناتِ

وهو في الكون كفة السيئاتِ

وهو في الكون كفة السيئاتِ

The pan of the unseen is the pan of good deeds;

The scale of the unseen is the scale of good deeds

And in the cosmos it is the pan of evil deeds.

And He in the universe is the scale of bad deeds

وانظر الميل فهو للقلب مني

وانظر الميل فهو للقلب مني

ميل قلب الميزان ميزان ذاتي

ميل قلب الميزان ميزان ذاتي

And observe the tilt: it is from me toward the heart;

And look at the tilt for it is for the heart from me

The tilt of the balance's heart is the balance of my essence.

The tilt of the scale's heart is a subjective scale

وأقيموا للوزن بالقسط هذا

وأقيموا للوزن بالقسط هذا

قول ربي في محكم الآيات

قول ربي في محكم الآيات

“And set the weighing right with justice”—this

And establish for the weight with this justice

Is my Lord's saying in the unequivocal verses.

The word of my Lord in the decisive verses

وكذاك الصراط مني إليه

وكذاك الصراط مني إليه

نفخة الروح لاتصال الحياة

نفخة الروح لاتصال الحياة

And likewise, the path from me to Him

And likewise the path from me to Him

Is the spirit's breath, for the continuance of life.

The breath of the spirit for the connection of life

وهو جمر على جهنم جهل

وهو جمر على جهنم جهل

هو أغيار حضرة الحضرات

هو أغيار حضرة الحضرات

And it is embers over the hell of ignorance;

And it is embers over Hellfire ignorance

It is what is other than the Presence of presences.

It is the most sublime of the sublime presences

ما إلى جنة الصفات سواه

ما إلى جنة الصفات سواه

من طريق في هذه الظلمات

من طريق في هذه الظلمات

To the paradise of attributes there is no other

Nothing but Him leads to the Garden of Attributes

Path through these darknesses.

A path in these darknesses

فإذا مات صاحب الفتح منا

فإذا مات صاحب الفتح منا

ورقى بالفنا ذرى الدرجات

ورقى بالفنا ذرى الدرجات

So when the possessor of spiritual opening among us dies,

So when the companion of victory from us dies

And ascends through annihilation to the summits of the ranks,

And ascends through annihilation the ranks

ثم أحياه ربه يوم حشر

ثم أحياه ربه يوم حشر

عرف الكل واهتدى بلغات

عرف الكل واهتدى بلغات

Then his Lord revives him on a day of gathering,

Then his Lord resurrects him on the Day of Resurrection

He knows all and finds guidance through languages;

He knows everything and is guided by languages

ورأى ما رأى وحقق كشفاً

ورأى ما رأى وحقق كشفاً

أن سر الوجود في الحركات

أن سر الوجود في الحركات

And sees what he sees, and verifies through unveiling

And sees what he saw and realizes an unveiling

That the secret of Being lies in movements.

That the secret of existence is in the movements

حركات الوجود لا حركات

حركات الوجود لا حركات

سكنات وليس بالسكنات

سكنات وليس بالسكنات

The movements of Being are not movements,

The movements of existence not movements

But stillnesses—yet not stillnesses;

Of stillness and not with stillness

وشؤون ومالها من وجود

وشؤون ومالها من وجود

وهي بالقلب للوجود المواتي

وهي بالقلب للوجود المواتي

And affairs, with no existence at all,

And conditions that have no existence from them

And through reversal they belong to the accommodating Being.

And they are in the heart for deceased existence

هي طوراً به تلوح وطوراً

هي طوراً به تلوح وطوراً

هو يبدو بها لأهل النجاة

هو يبدو بها لأهل النجاة

At one time they shine forth through Him, and at another

It is a state in which it appears and a state

He appears through them to the people of salvation.

In which He manifests through them to the people of salvation

أيها الغافلون مهلاً رويداً

أيها الغافلون مهلاً رويداً

لم أوافق لكم على الغفلات

لم أوافق لكم على الغفلات

O heedless ones, slow down, take your time!

O oblivious ones, wait, gently,

I have not consented to your heedless lapses.

I did not agree with you on heedlessness

أنا في رؤيتي تصرف ربي

أنا في رؤيتي تصرف ربي

بي تشاغلت عن تصرف ذاتي

بي تشاغلت عن تصرف ذاتي

I, in witnessing my Lord's action

In my vision, my Lord disposes me

Upon me, have been distracted from my own self's action.

I was preoccupied with His disposition from my own

غاب نوري في نوره فمحاني

غاب نوري في نوره فمحاني

وأزالت صفاته لصفاتي

وأزالت صفاته لصفاتي

My light vanished within His light, so He effaced me,

My light disappeared in His light so He erased me

And His attributes removed my attributes.

And His attributes removed my attributes

وهو حقٌّ ذاتاً ووصفاً وإني

وهو حقٌّ ذاتاً ووصفاً وإني

باطل زاهق بغير ثبات

باطل زاهق بغير ثبات

And He is real in essence and attribute, while I

And He is true in essence and attribute while I

Am unreal, vanishing, without permanence:

Am false, perishing without firmness

صيغة مستحيلة تتلاشى

صيغة مستحيلة تتلاشى

بالتجلي في سائر الحالات

بالتجلي في سائر الحالات

A mutable form that dissolves

An impossible form that fades away

Through manifestation in all states.
