    وهو قول الإله كن فيكونُ

    The oneness of existence is but varied forms;

    And it is God's saying: “Be!”—and it comes to be.

    كل وقت له بها تكوين

    The cosmos has no existence apart from it;

    At every moment, through it, the cosmos is brought into being.

    And it is God's command, manifest in creation,

    As the safeguarded Book has said:

    “Our command to a thing is only when

    We have willed it”—so what is uttered is manifold modes.

    لمحَ طرفٍ ولمعَ برقٍ يبين

    It disappears at one time and appears at another;

    In the blink of an eye and a flash of lightning, it becomes manifest.

    So minds see it, supposing in ignorance:

    “Indeed, this is movement and stillness.”

    And it is the swift renewal of everything,

    And through it every sane person is mad.

    ذاك معناه فاسمعوا يا عيون

    Reason is only the binding of one thing to another;

    That is its meaning, so listen, O eyes.

    O eyes of hearts, perceive this,

    Before the eyelids close over you.

    God has borne witness that what I said is true,

    And so have the prophets and the clear Book.

    والتجلي له به تلوين

    He is this, yes—and He is not this;

    And His manifestation through Himself takes on varied hues.

    Do not say “No”; indeed, I have counseled you, so listen.

    And by someone other than me, you are indeed beguiled.

    A state like that in which everyone is,

    Yet understanding turns away, defrauded.

    And all that you say and we have said

    Is people's speech, which becomes clear.

    We have tasted it with certainty; but as for

    Others, it is conjectural in their view.

    But existence belongs to God, not to

    Creation; and creation comes to be through existence.

    And someone other than us says: “That is an existence

    Other than this”—so he fabricates lies and betrays.

    They made it a genus and have divided it

    Into every species—and indeed, this is madness.

    No originated thing is counted alongside the beginningless,

    Nor falsehood with truth, nor the high with the low.

    The originated has only fixity in

    Itself, not existence, O poor one.

    هو حق مقرَّرٌ لا يهون

    And true, beginningless existence is existence;

    It is truth, firmly established, never diminished.

    Ever manifesting through what lies in

    His knowledge—fixed entities, which thus appear.

    يتجلَّى به فتبدو الفنون

    In His knowledge, everything is fixed;

    He manifests through it, and the varied forms appear.
