نور هذا الوجود بالإيمانِ

نور هذا الوجود بالإيمانِ

لا بشمس ولا نجوم دواني

لا بشمس ولا نجوم دواني

The light of this existence comes through faith,

The light of this existence is through faith

not through a sun or nearby stars.

Not through sun or orbiting stars

وبه الشمس والنجوم جميعاً

وبه الشمس والنجوم جميعاً

مشرقات من رحمة الرحمن

مشرقات من رحمة الرحمن

And through it, the sun and stars alike

And through it the sun and all stars

shine from the mercy of the All-Merciful.

Are radiant with God's mercy

ولهذا الكسوف لا يعتريها

ولهذا الكسوف لا يعتريها

منه إلا عن غفلة وتواني

منه إلا عن غفلة وتواني

And so no eclipse overtakes them

And that is why eclipses do not darken them

from Him, save through heedlessness and slackness.

Except when forgetting and hesitating

أي قلب من القلوب تجلّى

أي قلب من القلوب تجلّى

فيه ربي بغير ما إيمان

فيه ربي بغير ما إيمان

In which heart among hearts has He manifested Himself—

What heart has God appeared in

my Lord—without any faith?

Without faith, my Lord manifests not

وعلوم الجميع علواً وسفلاً

وعلوم الجميع علواً وسفلاً

واردات عن وردة كالدهان

واردات عن وردة كالدهان

And the knowledge of all, above and below,

And all knowledge, highest and lowest

comes from a rose like oil.

Derives from a meadow like paint

فلك الماء والتراب مضيءٌ

فلك الماء والتراب مضيءٌ

بضياء الإيمان في كل آن

بضياء الإيمان في كل آن

The sphere of water and earth is radiant

So the water and earth are illuminated

with the radiance of faith at every moment.

With the light of faith, evermore

وبه لم يزل يدور ويبدي

وبه لم يزل يدور ويبدي

صوراً بابتداعه ومعاني

صوراً بابتداعه ومعاني

And through it, it never ceases to revolve and reveal

And by it, it revolves and reveals

forms, through His origination, and meanings.

أمِنَ الكلُّ من قلىً وبعادٍ

أمِنَ الكلُّ من قلىً وبعادٍ

عندما آمنوا وهم في تداني

عندما آمنوا وهم في تداني

All became safe from hatred and estrangement

Were not all protected from burning and distance

when they believed, while drawing near.

When they believed, while in humility

ولهم خلعة المهيمن جاءت

ولهم خلعة المهيمن جاءت

ثم فازوا من سلبها بالأمان

ثم فازوا من سلبها بالأمان

And the Guardian's robe of honor came to them;

And the mantle of the Guardian came to them

then they won safety from its being stripped away.

Then they won safety from its loss

فتراهم بها يميلون زهواً

فتراهم بها يميلون زهواً

بين نيل المراد والحرمان

بين نيل المراد والحرمان

So you see them swaying proudly in it,

You see them swaggering proudly

between attaining their wish and deprivation.

Between attaining goals and deprivation

وعلى كل حالة هو أولى

وعلى كل حالة هو أولى

بالذي جاء منه للأكوان

بالذي جاء منه للأكوان

And in every state He has the greater claim

And in every state, He is most deserving

to what has come from Him to created beings.

Of that which came from Him to the cosmos

وهو إيمانه به فلهذا

وهو إيمانه به فلهذا

مؤمن جاء عنه في القرآن

مؤمن جاء عنه في القرآن

And it is His faith in Himself; hence

And it is His faith in Him, and so

'Believer' is said of Him in the Qur'an.

"The faithful" came in the Quran from Him

والمواليد معدن ونبات

والمواليد معدن ونبات

ثم حيوانها مع الإنسان

ثم حيوانها مع الإنسان

And the offspring—mineral and plant,

And the newborns, vegetation and soil

then their animals, together with humankind,

Then animals with mankind

وكذاك الآباء مع أمهات

وكذاك الآباء مع أمهات

كلهم في غد من الحيوان

كلهم في غد من الحيوان

and likewise the fathers, along with mothers—

And likewise the fathers with the mothers

all of them tomorrow will be among the living,

Tomorrow all will be from the living

مؤمنات جميعها بإلهٍ

مؤمنات جميعها بإلهٍ

واحدٍ ما له كما قال ثاني

واحدٍ ما له كما قال ثاني

all believing in God,

All believing in one God

the One, who has no second, as He said.

With no second as He said

ولهذا تأتي غدا شاهدات

ولهذا تأتي غدا شاهدات

مثل ما جاء في حديث الأذان

مثل ما جاء في حديث الأذان

And so they will come tomorrow as witnesses,

And so tomorrow they will come as witnesses

as related in the hadith of the call to prayer.

As in the hadith of the call to prayer

وشروط الشهادة الآن فيها

وشروط الشهادة الآن فيها

ثبتت بالدليل والبرهان

ثبتت بالدليل والبرهان

And the conditions of testimony within them now

And the conditions of testimony are now in them

have been established by evidence and proof,

Proven by evidence and proof

حيث عنها الإله أخبر بالتس

حيث عنها الإله أخبر بالتس

بيح والنطق والفنا في العيان

بيح والنطق والفنا في العيان

for God has told of their glorifi-

For the God informed of their praising

cation, speech, and passing away in plain sight.

Speaking and vanishing from perception

فتحقق بكل ما قلت وافهم

فتحقق بكل ما قلت وافهم

تلقَ لبَّ الكمال والعرفان

تلقَ لبَّ الكمال والعرفان

So grasp the truth of all I have said, and understand;

So realize with all I have said and understand

you will find the essence of perfection and gnosis.
