The grave's seclusion is the noblest of seclusions,
The solitude of the grave is the noblest solitude
Through meeting the Beloved in the manifestations.
With the meeting of the Beloved in the high places
خلوةseclusion القبرthe grave للتجردfor detachment عماfrom whatever
خلوة القبر للتجرد عما
يشغلdistracts الروحthe spirit عنfrom إتمthe most perfect of الصفاتthe attributes
يشغل الروح عن إتم الصفات
The grave's seclusion is for detachment from whatever
The solitude of the grave is to be stripped of what
Distracts the spirit from the most perfect attributes.
Distracts the soul from perfecting its attributes
خلوةseclusion القبرthe grave لذةٌdelight ونعيمٌand bliss
خلوة القبر لذةٌ ونعيمٌ
لسعيدfor a blessed one قدindeed ذاقhas tasted سرَّthe secret of المماتdeath
لسعيد قد ذاق سرَّ الممات
The grave's seclusion is delight and bliss
The solitude of the grave is bliss and delight
For a blessed one who has tasted the secret of death.
For one fortunate who has tasted the secret of death
خلوةseclusion القبرthe grave راحةٌrest وسرورand joy
خلوة القبر راحةٌ وسرور
ودخولand entry فيinto أشرفthe noblest of الجناتthe gardens
ودخول في أشرف الجنات
The grave's seclusion is rest and joy,
The solitude of the grave is tranquility and joy
And entry into the noblest gardens.
And entry into the noblest of Gardens
حضرةa presence تجمعgathers المتيمthe love-enthralled one فيهاwithin it
حضرة تجمع المتيم فيها
أيwhat a جمعgathering فيin أكملthe most perfect of الحالاتthe states
أي جمع في أكمل الحالات
A presence that gathers the love-enthralled within it—
A presence that brings together the enamored one
What a gathering, in the most perfect of states!
What gathering in the most perfect of states!
فهيso it لولاwere it not that أتىcame لناto us النهيthe prohibition عنهاconcerning it
فهي لولا أتى لنا النهي عنها
بالتمنيby wishing لهاfor it لكانتit would have been نجاتيmy salvation
بالتمني لها لكانت نجاتي
So, had we not been forbidden
Were it not for the prohibition that came to us
To wish for it, it would have been my salvation.
I would have wished for it as my salvation
هيit سعدgood fortune لكلfor every عبدservant سعيدblessed
هي سعد لكل عبد سعيد
يترقىascends بهاthrough it علاthe heights of الدرجاتthe ranks
يترقى بها علا الدرجات
It is good fortune for every blessed servant,
It is joy for every fortunate servant
Who ascends through it to the loftiest ranks.
Who ascends by it to the highest ranks
وهيand it سجنa prison لكلfor every عبدservant شقيwretched
وهي سجن لكل عبد شقي
يتدلىdescends بهاthrough it إلىto الدركاتthe lower depths
يتدلى بها إلى الدركات
And it is a prison for every wretched servant,
And it is a prison for every wretched servant
Who descends through it to the lower depths.
Who descends by it to the deepest pits
ليسis not واللهby God منwhoever يمتdies فهوthen he ميتdead
ليس والله من يمت فهو ميت
إنماonly الموتdeath موتdeadness هذيthis الحياةlife
إنما الموت موت هذي الحياة
By God, whoever dies is not dead;
By God, one who dies is not dead
Death is only the deadness of this life.
Rather, death is the death of this life
كلeveryone منwho قامsubsists فيin الحياةlife بنفسthrough a self
كل من قام في الحياة بنفس
قامsubsists بالوهمthrough illusion والأسىand sorrow والشتاتand dispersal
قام بالوهم والأسى والشتات
Everyone who subsists in life through his own self
All who rose in life with their ego
Subsists through illusion, sorrow, and dispersal.
Rose in illusion, sorrow and dispersion
والذيand whoever قامsubsists بالإلهthrough God فحيso he is alive
والذي قام بالإله فحي
بحياةthrough the life of الإلهGod فيat الأوقاتthe times
بحياة الإله في الأوقات
And whoever subsists through God is alive
But one who rose with God is alive
Through the life of God at all times.
With the life of God at all times
تركhas left الجسمthe body والكثائفand dense substances عنهaway from him
ترك الجسم والكثائف عنه
طاهراًpure منfrom خبائثthe defilements of الأدواتthe instruments
طاهراً من خبائث الأدوات
He has left the body and dense substances behind,
Leaving behind the body and densities
Purified of the instruments' defilements,
Pure from the impurities of tools
خالعاًcasting off ماwhat كستهclothed him منهfrom it طباعnatural dispositions
خالعاً ما كسته منه طباع
لابساًwearing للملابسthe garments الطاهراتpure
لابساً للملابس الطاهرات
Casting off what natural dispositions had clothed him in from it,
Taking off what dispositions clothed it in
Clad in pure garments.
