1. صحن صحناء واسع الأطرافِ

    وهو صحن لذي التقى والعفافِ

    The courtyard of Ṣaḥnāʾ is spacious on every side.

    And it is a courtyard for one endowed with piety and chastity.

  2. حضرة للذي تولى عليها

    وهي أبهى منازل الأشراف

    A court for him who presides over it,

    And it is the fairest of the nobles’ dwellings.

  3. من دعانا لها يجل مقاماً

    فاضل الذات كامل الأوصاف

    He who invited us there is exalted in standing,

    Virtuous in essence, perfect in qualities.

  4. مشرفاتٌ جهاتها بسناها

    خالص الود صادق الحب صافي

    Its sides are exalted by its radiance.

    Sincere in affection, true in love, pure.

  5. صدره واسع لمن جاء يسعى

    لحماه من سائر الأضياف

    His breast is open to whoever comes hastening

    To his protected domain, from among all the guests.

  6. لا يزال الكمال يقطر منه

    نوره في سمائه غير خاف

    Perfection never ceases to drip from him;

    His light in his sky is not hidden.

  7. وهو شهم مهذب يتسامى

    كل وقت عن كل شيء منافي

    And he is noble-hearted and refined, rising higher,

    At every moment above all that is unbecoming.

  8. وله من عناية الله باع

    طال فوق الرؤوس والأكتاف

    And through God’s care he has an armspan

    That stretches above heads and shoulders.
