اذبح النفس بسيف الإجتهادْ

اذبح النفس بسيف الإجتهادْ

في رضى مولاك تحظى بالمرادْ

في رضى مولاك تحظى بالمرادْ

Slay the self with the sword of striving.

Slay the soul with the sword of diligence

In pleasing your Master, you will attain your desire.

To attain the pleasure of your Master

واكشف الحجب عن القلب به

واكشف الحجب عن القلب به

وتأمل وجه مولاك الجواد

وتأمل وجه مولاك الجواد

And lift the veils from the heart with it,

And uncover the veils from the heart through Him

And contemplate the face of your bountiful Master.

And contemplate the face of your Generous Lord

لا تكن من نفر قد أمروا

لا تكن من نفر قد أمروا

فعموا عنه وصموا بازدياد

فعموا عنه وصموا بازدياد

Do not be among those who were commanded,

Be not of those who were commanded

Then grew blind to Him and increasingly deaf.

But turned blind and deaf to truth

سألوا واستخبروا واستكشفوا

سألوا واستخبروا واستكشفوا

ولقد هاموا به في كل واد

ولقد هاموا به في كل واد

They asked, and inquired, and sought to discover,

They asked and investigated and explored

And indeed they wandered in longing for Him in every valley.

And wandered lost in every valley

ولو اَنَّ القوم فيهم رشد

ولو اَنَّ القوم فيهم رشد

فوضوا الأمر إلى رب العباد

فوضوا الأمر إلى رب العباد

And had those people possessed sound judgment,

Had they but entrusted the matter

They would have entrusted the matter to the Lord of the servants,

To the Lord of all men

وأتوا منه بما قد قدروا

وأتوا منه بما قد قدروا

واستطاعوا وعلى الله الرشاد

واستطاعوا وعلى الله الرشاد

And done as much of it as they had the power

And accepted what He had decreed

And ability to do; right guidance rests with God.

As far as they were able, for God guides aright
