She spoke to me from every mind and sense,

And called me from every kind and genus.

She is unveiled to me through direct sight,

And she is veiled to me by a veil of confusion.

Her face is radiant, without ever setting,

And I am in sunset, today and yesterday.

O you, dead through ignorance's misguidance,

You are, in body, within a grave and a tomb.

How long, then, will you behold the stars of creation?

Come, tell me: when will you see my sun's light?

And when will your cups of unmixed wine appear,

From the full moon's hand, in five fingers?

This self sails like a ship,

From you—if you reflect—in a sea of obliteration.

    يغسل الماء منك آثار رجس

    So wrench out its plank with your resolve, and drown;

The water will wash the traces of defilement from you.

A face of Truth, to which faces bow—

If it manifests, you will hear nothing but whispering.
