قم تأمل في هذه الأنوارِ
واخلand empty منكof yourself المحلthe dwelling للأسرارِfor the mysteries
واخل منك المحل للأسرارِ
Rise and contemplate these lights.
Stand and ponder these lights,
And empty the dwelling of yourself for the mysteries.
And make your place for secrets.
لاdo not تقلsay كيفhow أنتyou أصبحتyou have become أمor كيfirst part of 'how'
لا تقل كيف أنت أصبحت أم كي
فcompletion of 'how' العداthe foes إنناindeed we بحكمunder the decree of الباريthe Creator
ف العدا إننا بحكم الباري
Do not say, 'How have you come to be, or how
Do not say how you have become or what,
have the foes come to be?' Indeed, we are under the Creator's decree.
The enemies, we are by the command of God,
نحنwe فيin جنةparadise المعارفspiritual knowledge نزهوwe revel
نحن في جنة المعارف نزهو
والعداand the foes فيin جهنمhell الإنكارdenial
والعدا في جهنم الإنكار
We revel in the paradise of spiritual knowledge,
We are in the garden of knowledge blissful,
And the foes are in the hell of denial.
And the enemies are in the hell of denial.
همthey حجابa veil لناfor us عليهمover them كثيفdense
هم حجاب لنا عليهم كثيف
حاجبscreening منfrom ظهورappearance شمسsun النهارday
حاجب من ظهور شمس النهار
They are a dense veil concealing us from them,
For them we are a thick veil,
Blocking the appearance of the sun of day.
A barrier from the rising sun.
ظلماتdarknesses ونحنand we فيin نورlight حقthe Real
ظلمات ونحن في نور حق
هوHe عنهمfrom them بكونهمby their existence متواريhidden
هو عنهم بكونهم متواري
They are darkness, while we are in the light of the Real.
Darknesses while we are in the light of Truth,
He is hidden from them by their own existence.
He is hidden from them in their hiding.
أنكروهthey denied Him لأنهمbecause they جهلوهthey did not know Him
أنكروه لأنهم جهلوه
وعنand instead of الجنةparadise اكتفواthey contented themselves بالنارwith fire
وعن الجنة اكتفوا بالنار
They denied Him because they did not know Him,
They denied Him in their ignorance,
And instead of paradise, they contented themselves with fire.
And sufficed with the fire instead of Paradise.
يتجلىHe manifests Himself بهمthrough them عليناto us فندريso we know
يتجلى بهم علينا فندري
كيفhow عنهمfrom them بهمthrough them غداHe became فيin استتارconcealment
كيف عنهم بهم غدا في استتار
He manifests Himself to us through them, so we know
He manifests to us through them so we know
How, through them, He came to be concealed from them.
How through them He has become concealed from them.
كلماwhenever أشرقتshone forth لناfor us الشمسthe sun منهمfrom them
كلما أشرقت لنا الشمس منهم
أظلمتgrew dark عندهمfor them علىover الأبصارthe eyes
أظلمت عندهم على الأبصار
Whenever the sun shines forth for us from them,
Whenever the sun rises for us from them,
For them, it grows dark before their eyes.
It darkens in their sights.
فرمتهمso they cast them نفوسهمtheir souls فيinto جحيمan inferno
فرمتهم نفوسهم في جحيم
لاdo not يبالونcare بالعمىabout blindness والعوارand defects
لا يبالون بالعمى والعوار
So their souls cast them into an inferno;
So their souls flung them into hellfire,
They care nothing for blindness or defects.
Unconcerned with blindness and sores.
هكذاthus همthey فيin علمهHis knowledge منfrom قديمof old
هكذا هم في علمه من قديم
وكذاand likewise أنتyou هكذاthus كمhow long تماريyou dispute
وكذا أنت هكذا كم تماري
Thus they have been in His knowledge from of old;
Thus they are in His knowledge from the beginning,
And you are likewise thus—how long will you dispute?
And so you are, however much you dispute.
