يا كامل العقل خذ بالنقل لك حلوانْ

عندي إلى أن مرادكْ تجعلُهْ حلوانْ

عندي إلى أن مرادكْ تجعلُهْ حلوانْ

O you of perfect intellect, follow transmitted tradition; a reward is yours,

O complete of mind, take from the text for you two doves

With me, until you make Hulwan your goal.

I have until your purpose makes them two doves

وحقِ بغداد ذات القرب من حلوانْ

وحقِ بغداد ذات القرب من حلوانْ

حبي لقطبٍ بها واَحْلى العنب حلوانْ

حبي لقطبٍ بها واَحْلى العنب حلوانْ

And by the sanctity of Baghdad, which lies near Hulwan,

And truly Baghdad, close to two doves

My love is for a spiritual pole there; the sweetest grapes are Hulwan.
