لعيون الورى بلا كتمانِ

O you of beautiful face, who are near

O beautiful face that is close,

To the eyes of humankind, without concealment.

To the eyes of creation, without concealment,

لكن الآن في العيون غبارٌ

لكن الآن في العيون غبارٌ

ثائرٌ بالشخوص والأكوان

ثائرٌ بالشخوص والأكوان

But now there is dust in the eyes,

But now in the eyes there is dust,

Stirred up by persons and created worlds,

Raging with glances and universes,

والمعاني التي تلوح وتخفى

والمعاني التي تلوح وتخفى

من جميع الأنواع والألوان

من جميع الأنواع والألوان

And the meanings that appear and disappear,

And meanings that appear and disappear,

Of every kind and color.

Of all kinds and colors,

والذي ينظر الوجود قليل

والذي ينظر الوجود قليل

من قليل في سائر الأزمان

من قليل في سائر الأزمان

And those who behold existence are few,

And those who see existence little,

Even among the few, throughout all ages.

From little in all times,

أنت نور أيا وجود علينا

أنت نور أيا وجود علينا

تتجلى في عيننا والعيان

تتجلى في عيننا والعيان

You are light upon us, O Being;

You are the light of existence upon us,

You reveal yourself in our eye and in plain sight.

Revealed in our eyes and vision,

والمساكين نحن في غفلاتٍ

والمساكين نحن في غفلاتٍ

عنك يا ذا الحسنى وذا الإحسان

عنك يا ذا الحسنى وذا الإحسان

And we, the poor, are heedless

And we are the wretched in heedlessness,

Of you, O possessor of beauty and beneficence.

Of you, O most beautiful and benevolent,

إن عيناً تراك في الدهر يوماً

إن عيناً تراك في الدهر يوماً

تلك عين من العمى في أمان

تلك عين من العمى في أمان

Indeed, an eye that sees you one day in the course of time—

If an eye sees you one day in life,

That eye is safe from blindness.

That is an eye safe from blindness.
