أيامن له الأشواق مني كثيرة

أيامن له الأشواق مني كثيرة

ومني دموعي يوم بان غزيرة

ومني دموعي يوم بان غزيرة

O you for whom my longings are many,

My days long for you so very much,

And copious were my tears the day he departed.

And from me tears flowed copiously when you left.

ويا من لقلبي في هواه سريرة

ويا من لقلبي في هواه سريرة

فليتك تحلو والحياة مريرة

فليتك تحلو والحياة مريرة

And O you, in whose love my heart holds a secret,

O you for whom my heart secretly yearns,

So would that you were sweet, though life is bitter,

If only you were sweet while life is bitter!

وليتك ترضى والأنام غضاب

وليتك ترضى والأنام غضاب

خيالك في قلبي لقلبي مسامر

خيالك في قلبي لقلبي مسامر

And would that you were pleased, though all people are angry.

If only you were pleased while people are wrathful!

Your image in my heart is my heart’s companion by night,

Your image in my heart nails my heart in place,

وحبك للعشاق ناه وآمر

وحبك للعشاق ناه وآمر

فيا ليت غيث الوصل لي منك غامر

فيا ليت غيث الوصل لي منك غامر

And love for you forbids and commands the lovers.

And your love for lovers is sigh and command.

So would that the rain of union from you engulfed me,

If only a downpour of union with you would flood me!

وليت الذي بيني وبينك عامر

وليت الذي بيني وبينك عامر

وبيني وبين العالمين خراب

وبيني وبين العالمين خراب

And would that what lies between me and you were flourishing,

If only what lies between me and you were prosperous,

And what lies between me and all the worlds were in ruins.

And between me and all people was devastation!

لقد ذاب كلي في لقاك لك الهنا

لقد ذاب كلي في لقاك لك الهنا

وبدل فقري في تجليك بالغنى

وبدل فقري في تجليك بالغنى

Indeed, my whole being has melted in meeting you—may bliss be yours.

I have melted away completely in seeing you - to you belongs all praise!

And my poverty was exchanged for wealth in your self-revelation.

And your manifestation to me replaced my poverty with wealth.

وأنت هو الموجود حقا ولا أنا

وأنت هو الموجود حقا ولا أنا

إذا صح منك الود يا غاية المنى

إذا صح منك الود يا غاية المنى

And you are the one who truly exists, not I.

You are the only one who truly exists, not I,

If your love proves true, O ultimate goal of desire,

If affection from you, O utmost of wishes, is true!

فكل الذي فوق التراب تراب

فكل الذي فوق التراب تراب

Then all that is above the dust is dust.

For all above the dust is dust.
