    O reproacher who found fault in ignorance

    with love for that precious youth,

    What have we to do with the ignoramus who inquires about us

    with feeble words and a base mind?

    Indeed, in beauty and maleness lies a secret

    known only to one endowed with sanctity.

    Live in health, or die of your sickness over us,

    and meet us with a smile or a frown.

    نحن في رفعة عن التدنيس

    Think well, or think ill;

    we are exalted above defilement.

    If you equate, in creation, a beautiful one

    with an ugly one, you have erred in your comparison.

    ما أتاك اسجدوا إلى إبليس

    You have indeed received 'Prostrate yourselves before Adam'—so understand;

    you have not received 'Prostrate yourselves toward Iblis.'
