يا أيها الناس خذوا حذركم
منagainst صحبةthe company of الفاسقthe sinner والكاذبand the liar
من صحبة الفاسق والكاذب
O people, be on your guard
O people, beware
against the company of the sinner and the liar.
Of the company of the immoral and the liar
والتزمواand adhere to صحبةthe company of أهلpeople of التقىpiety
والتزموا صحبة أهل التقى
جماعةthe community of السنةthe Prophetic tradition والواجبand religious duty
جماعة السنة والواجب
And keep company with the people of piety,
And adhere to the company of the pious
the community of the Prophetic tradition and religious duty.
The followers of the Sunnah and the obligatory duties
فصاحبfor a companion معwith صاحبa companion دائماalways
فصاحب مع صاحب دائما
كقلمlike a pen بينbetween يديthe two hands of كاتبa writer
كقلم بين يدي كاتب
For one companion with another is always
For a companion is always with a companion
like a pen in a writer’s hands.
Like a pen in the hands of a writer
يكتبhe writes ماقدwhatever … has شاءhe willed فيهwithin it بهwith it
يكتب ماقد شاء فيه به
بحكمby virtue of عقدthe bond of الصحبةcompanionship اللازبbinding
بحكم عقد الصحبة اللازب
He writes with it whatever he has willed within it,
Who writes with it whatever he wishes
by virtue of the binding bond of companionship.
By virtue of the binding pact of companionship

قالsaid رسولthe Messenger of الخالقthe Creator الواهبthe Bestower
قال رسول الخالق الواهب

The Messenger of the Creator, the Bestower, said:
The Messenger of the Creator, the Bestower
اعتبرواjudge الأرضthe land بأسمائهاby its names
اعتبروا الأرض بأسمائها
واعتبرواand judge الصاحبthe companion بالصاحبby the companion
واعتبروا الصاحب بالصاحب
“Judge the land by its names,
"Consider the earth by its names
and judge a companion by his companion.”
And consider the companion by the companion"
